The California residents will be required to install rooftop solar panels on their homes starting 2020

The installation of rooftop solar panels in newly built houses for the purpose of reducing the greenhouse gases is now required as per the newly enacted California laws. The State Energy Commission has voted unanimously for this initiative on May 9, Fox News reported.

The rooftop solar panels are to be installed in all new houses and apartments built after 2020 The cost of building a house for one family will grow by around 10 thousand dollars. However, in the long run, the solar panels will help families to reduce the cost of electricity.

This measure will allow reducing the greenhouse gas emissions by 700,000 metric tons over the three years. The Energy Commission has states that this is equal to taking 115,000 cars of the road.
