Norwegian Equinor and British energy company SSE have agreed to develop the world's first 100% hydrogen power plant in the UK.
The Keadby Hydrogen power plant is expected to generate about 900 MW*h of electricity and help reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The companies emphasized that with the appropriate policy, the station will be able to be commissioned as early as 2027. In addition, Equinor and SSE are planning to build a 900 MW natural gas power plant equipped with carbon capture technology.
In addition, Equinor is also involved in the Saltend H2H natural gas hydrogen project (near Hull). According to the Norwegian company, hydrogen can be supplied from here to Keadby Hydrogen.
