In recent days, the ice and snow of Mount Ararat are melting with great speed, which has seriously worried the environmentalists. Due to the hot weather, even the permanent snow-covered part of Mount Ararat is melting. There is an outflow of dirt and sewage to the villages near the Mountain Ararat.

Turkish DHA news agency has published a video which was recorded by 40-year-old local guide-mountaineer Murat Shahin. The latter noted that this is the first time he has witnessed such a phenomenon.

In his words, at the moment the villages are not endangered. However, the situation may change. Shahin has noted that if the current temperature is maintained, there will be no snow-covered areas on Mount Ararat in 5-10 years.
